Zoe Andrews (b. 1997, London) explores the tactile and conceptual possibilities of clay, pushing the boundaries between ceramics, drawing, and painting. Influenced by the forms and rhythms of Ancient Greek pottery, her work engages movement and light to evoke mood and mystery. This focus on dynamic form is underscored by the fluidity of her materials—whether the malleability of clay on the wheel or the gestural quality of her drawn marks.
Colour is central to Zoe's practice, where she uses it as an emotional and expressive tool. Drawing pigments from her surroundings, she creates a palette deeply tied to the landscape. Her recent work with modular, reconfigurable tiles adds spontaneity, complementing her passion for throwing on the wheel. Zoe also enjoys the challenge of large bowls, seeing them as a canvas for exploring the relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
Zoe graduated from University College London in 2022 and co-founded The Ceramic Garden, a pottery studio in South London, where she both teaches and works. Currently enrolled in The Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School, her ongoing studies continue to inform and expand her artistic approach.
